Economics, Tax Structure and Business Support
New Hampshire boasts one of the highest median household incomes in the country – in some recent years, it has ranked the highest. In 2016, it was $70,936, well above the national average. Unemployment in 2017, under 3 percent, was among the nation’s lowest.
There is no income or sales tax in New Hampshire. Chesterfield has the fourth lowest property tax rate in Cheshire county. Taxes on businesses, while quite reasonable, may also be eligible for incentives.

Support for Businesses
The support of the EDC (Economic Development Committee) will help startups, expanding or relocating businesses in navigating the various boards, regulations and paperwork. The EDC will also be instrumental in helping you find the perfect location for your company.
There are lots available within the Industrial Park as well as commercially zoned buildings and land for sale.
The Hannah Grimes Center offers space, tools, and connections that innovative entrepreneurs need to build strong businesses, thriving local economies and vibrant communities in the Monadnock Region. The Keene State College Employment services provides help with development of workforce and the Monadnock Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has various financial aid programs available.
Broadband Access
Broadband access in Chesterfield is available from several vendors including Comcast, Argent, WiValley, and Consolidated. These providers use various technologies including DSL, Coax Cable, wireless, and fiber (very soon). Download speeds up to 100 Mbps are currently available at many locations in town. A new fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) network has been installed in town and this service is available to provide download speeds up to 1 Gbps to every location in town.
Manufacturing Support
The Monadnock region has long been a manufacturing area and therefore has many supportive businesses including machine shops, tool and die shops, sheetmetal shops, industrial painting, plating, industrial screenprinting, machine and tool builders, trucking companies, marketing agencies and IT support businesses.
